When it comes to buying or selling a vehicle, there are a lot of requirements involved in the transaction, such as a Bill of Sale which is used to protect both the buyer and the seller. It is highly recommended that each vehicle seller in the state of Illinois request and acknowledgment from the buyer in the form of a Bill of Sales. While a Bill of Sale is not mandatory, it is a good idea.
Bill of Sale Specifics
The state of Illinois does not have an official Illinois Bill of Sale form. 4DMV.com provides many generic Bill of Sale forms online through our site, however. A Bill of Sale form includes important information such as the:
- Sellers and buyers name, address and phone number
- The make, model and year of the vehicle
- Whether the vehicle is sold free of liens and encumbrances
- The odometer reading of the vehicle
Junked Vehicle Bill of Sale
If you are the owner of a junk vehicle, the State of Illinois does provide a Junked Vehicle Bill of Sale form
The official Junked Bill of Sale form can be used if you have misplaced or lost the title to the vehicle you are sending to the salvage yard.
The Junked Bill of Sale will need to be used with the State of Illinois Certificate of Final Disposition.
